Frequently Asked Questions

What is hypnosis?

Contrary to popular belief, hypnosis is not a state of deep sleep. In hypnosis you are in a deep state of relaxation and a heightened state of awareness.  Concentration and focus are intensified in this state. The goal is to rebalance the subconscious and conscious minds allowing them to work together in harmony, which then helps give you greater control over your behavior, emotions, and physical well-being.

What does hypnosis feel like?

Entering a hypnotic trance is very natural and we experience it every day. It actually feels similar to numerous moments in your life where you may have been absorbed in a good book or movie, lost in thought, engrossed in music, driven to your destination and didn’t remember how you got there, or even in meditation.

Once you enter a state of hypnosis, your body will feel calm and relaxed, similar to the way you might feel when meditating. I as the hypnotherapist will speak to you in a calm and gently assertive voice, and place the suggestions you agreed to for your sessions into your subconscious mind.

Who is it good for?

If you want hypnotherapy, you are a good candidate for it. You must be on board with doing hypnosis. If someone is trying to hypnotize you against your will, it simply won’t work. If you are extremely skeptical of how effective it is, or if it scares you, it may not work for you.

What Hypnotherapy isn’t…

Hypnotherapy is not like the performances you see on stage shows, where you might see people dancing around or quacking like a duck. There are no swinging watches and there is no mind control involved. In a hypnotherapy session you are in control the entire time. You will hear the suggestions made to you, and you will be able to remember them after the session.

Hypnosis and Health Coaching = A Powerhouse Combination

What is Hypno-Coaching?

You're ready for a change in your life.  You're not feeling healthy, you're tired, your clothes don't fit...so you decide to start a new meal plan or exercise regimen.  It goes well...for a few days.  Until you find your old behaviors start creeping back in.  Why?  Because while your conscious mind knew it was time for a change, your subconscious mind wants to keep you in your comfort zone.

Everything we do day in and day out is based on our habits.  Our habits are embedded in our subconscious mind.  The foods we choose to eat, when we eat, snacking in the evenings, emotional eating, binging, mindless eating, overeating…all of these are habits that we’ve formed throughout our lives. You can choose something different by tapping into your subconscious mind and creating healthier, more positive behaviors.  Combining Hypnosis and Health Coaching is a powerhouse combination for lasting behavior change.
